Teenager admits fireworks death
A TEENAGER has admitted killing a woman in an arson attack on her home on Bonfire Night.
Mary Fox, 59, died in her burning home in Wallace Road, Bodmin, on November 5 last year. Her son Raum, 17, escaped.
Ryan Croft, 18, of Wallace Road, Bodmin, admitted manslaughter and arson at Truro Crown Court yesterday.
Samuel Luckes, 17, of Rhind Street, Bodmin, and Owen Hewitt, 18, from Bodmin Foyer, Kestenenn, Bodmin, pleaded not guilty.
The teenagers, each wearing a dark suit, spoke only to confirm their names and enter their pleas. At the time of the fire, police said a firework was found inside the front door of the house.
A dozen members of the defendants' families watched in silence as the charges were read to the teenagers.
Some in the public gallery blew kisses and mouthed "I love you" during the 25-minute hearing.
Luckes and Hewitt are due to face trial in May. All three defendants were remanded in custody.
A psychiatric report was also ordered to be carried out on Croft.
