Teenager banned from driving after found driving car on three wheels - and not taking breath test
A TEENAGER caught driving on three wheels has been banned from driving for two years after failing to give a breath test.
Plymouth magistrates heard how David Wilkins, of Barton Close, Wembury was arrested by officers after a resident in Springfield Road, Elburton was awoken by a "loud grinding" noise.
The witness saw the Ford Ka "with sparks flying off" a missing offside wheel at around midnight on February 7.
Wilkins, 19, was seen to "stagger" in a drunken manner from the car before returning to it to try and restart it.
He was eventually picked up by police staggering along Wembury Road. However, after being taken to Charles Cross police station he did not give a breath specimen.
In mitigation, Wilkins said: "There's no excuse. I shouldn't have got into my car.
"I just didn't blow [into the machine]."
He was disqualified from driving for 24 months, fined £110, ordered to pay a victim surcharge of £20 and court costs of £40.
