Temporary staff let go by Newton Abbot firm to avoid job losses
A MAJOR Newton Abbot company has released around 20 of its temporary staff.
It is understood engineering firm Centrax made the cuts in the last month.
Terry Keefe, area representative for the Unite union which acts on behalf of some Centrax employees, said: "They've had to let them go as there's been a fluctuation of parts requested from some of the big companies that Centrax works with.
"Temporary staff have been let go to avoid redundancies.

"Centrax is in talks with companies about stabilising these fluctuations.
"Nobody will know the outcome of these discussions, but once this is sorted out they might have to recruit again in the new year."
A spokesman for the turbine engine manufacturing firm would not be drawn and insisted: "It's business as usual."
Centrax, based at Milber, was established in 1946 and employs around 700 people across its European sites.
