Thieves 'drilling into fuel tanks' to steal petrol from parked cars in Ilfracombe
THIEVES have caused hundreds of pounds worth of damage to cars by trying to illegally siphon just a few quid’s worth of petrol from fuel tanks, police have said.
Officers in Ilfracombe have warned car owners to be vigilant after two incidents of petrol theft from vehicles on Queens Avenue overnight between February 21 and 22.

The vehicles in question, a Gold Volvo and a Vauxhall Astra, had their petrol tanks drilled into and fuel siphoned out.
North Devon Sector Inspector Roger Bartlett said: “On the Volvo the thieves caused around £1,000 worth of damage to extract about £20 worth of petrol which is ridiculous.
