Thors battle back to beat derby rivals Willand to move up table
THORVERTON hit back twice against Willand Rovers in their crucial Mid Devon derby to win 3-2 and climb out of the bottom two in the Premier Division.
Lee Riggs, Ben Bristowe and Luke Wyatt scored for the Thors, who travel to Clyst Valley this week. Willand are at leaders Seaton.
Morchard Bishop crashed to a shock 4-1 defeat at Budleigh Salterton. Kenny Ord was Morchard's scorer.
The Premier Division's top three – Seaton, St Martins and Topsham Town – all won and the title race now looks to be between the trio.
Newtown were in with a shout but crashed 3-2 at home to bottom club Alphington.
Hatherleigh and Beer drew 3-3 in a cracker, and Heavitree shared the points from a 1-1 draw at Barnstaple.
Promotion-chasing Phoenix Club and Feniton have both been docked four points in Division One for fielding players who should have been suspended.
Feniton slipped to a 2-1 defeat at leaders Exmouth Amateurs last weekend, with Dave Green and Craig Higham scoring for the Ammies. Alex Frankpitt converted a penalty for Feniton.
Phoenix won 4-1 at Civil Service, with Ashley Bailey (2), Rian Antat and James Fanson scoring, while Civil had three players sent off.
Tipton St John found their scoring touch to thrash Heavitree Social United 6-1, with Adam Connett and Ash Small both netting twice. Jody Freeman and Ade Small also scored.
Beacon Knights won 2-1 against Culm United. Phil Farrah shot Culm ahead but James Rothery and Miles Woolnough hit back.
Elmore won their second match in Division Two 3-1 against Halwill, with Dom Perrott (2) and Matt Snell on target.
That result put pressure on Uplowman Athletic at the bottom of the table as they were beaten 2-0 by the University. James Knott and Dan Whittington netted.
Broadclyst and Clyst Valley drew 2-2 with Justin Yelsali and Jake Ranger scoring for Broadclyst and Karl Davey and Jamie Pryse for Clyst. Topsham and Sidmouth drew 0-0, as did Honiton and Chard.
Division Three leaders Dawlish United beat Colaton Raleigh 3-2, with Kris Yelland, Ben Smith and Lance Clarke scoring. Adrian Parr and Jake Boyland replied.
Sandford won their derby against Tedburn St Mary 3-2. Ryan Cartlidge, Shane Tucker and Nigel Harris scored.
Upottery won a thriller at Lympstone 4-3, with Cat Pislaru and Charlie Lane both hitting doubles. Jack Greenslade (2) and Dale Evans scored for the Lympets.
Ashley Dart and Ben Murby scored for Division Four leaders Dolphin in a 2-0 win against Bampton.
Steve Blatchford (2), Dexter Booth and Daniel Seaton scored for Whipton & Pinhoe in their 4-1 win against Kentisbeare. Matt Reed replied.
Jake Richards netted the only goal as Seaton beat Lapford 1-0.
Two Pat Dawes goals earned Newtown a 2-2 draw against previous Division Five leaders Exmouth Town.
Woodbury went top after they beat the Lord's XI 5-2. Alex Hughes, Reece Perry and Gary May scored to add to two own goals for the Wooders. Julian Wills had both Lord's goals.
A Steve Alford hat-trick led Culm United to a 3-2 win against Axmouth, whose Jamie Hughes bagged both goals.
