Bodmin Town's midweek 6-0 victory over Falmouth Town took the reigning champions a step nearer to retaining the Carlsberg South West Peninsula League title.

It is difficult to see Darren Gilbert's side slipping up enough times for Plymouth Parkway and Elburton Villa, who occupy second and third respectively, to catch them.

Today Bodmin travel to Trefrew Park to take on Camelford in the first meeting between the two sides this season, aware that every victory makes it even harder for those chasing to hold on to any aspirations they have of claiming the number one spot.

Parkway, eight points adrift of Bodmin having played a game more, host Launceston still licking their wounds after Tuesday's 2-1 defeat to Southern League Bideford.

The Devon St Luke's Cup quarter-final proved to be an expensive game for Wayne Hillson's side as Paul Heveran was carried off to hospital with a bad ankle injury and central defender Marc Bonney limped out of the action.

Heveran's injury was diagnosed as severe bruising and he is expected to be out of action for three or weeks but Hillson also has striker Sam Cooper (knee) and Jamie Bass (foot) rated as "doubtful".

Whereas Bodmin are firm favourites to lift the title, Penzance are favourites to be playing their football in Division One West next season.

The Magpies travel to St Austell today to face a home side still fuming over last weekend's 1-0 defeat at Liskeard Athletic, who have now put a healthy 13 points between themselves and Penzance.

The Blues travel to Liverton United looking for a third consecutive victory. Liskeard manager Paul Blatchford includes his new signing from St Blazey, Dominic Matcham.

After a run of five consecutive victories, Liverton have lost their last two games, away to St Blazey and Saltash United, and manager Tony Bowker will be hoping a return to their Halford home will bring a change of fortunes.

St Blazey's 2-1 success against Liverton was one of five successive league victories and manager Bobby Oaten will be looking for number six at home to Torpoint Athletic.

St Blazey beat Newquay 1-0 on Wednesday. The Peppermints return home to Mount Wise today to entertain Bovey Tracey, who have lost just once in their last ten games.

Ivybridge Town and Falmouth both travel to Bickland Park looking to complete the double over Falmouth. Saltash have youngster Oscar Bennetts returning as they look to take their unbeaten run to four games at home to Witheridge.
