Tom Daley and Peter Waterfield lead team in London
Plymouth’s Tom Daley will feature in the British Gas Great Britain Diving Team at the 18th FINA Visa Diving World Cup in London this month, when divers will aim to gain quota places for Great Britain during the Olympic Games.
Daley, who missed the British Gas National Cup in Southend at the end of last month in order to rest an injured thumb, and Peter Waterfield will lead the British challenge at the six-day competition, which is part of the London Prepares series, from February 20 to 26.

The pair will compete in the 10 metres synchro on the fourth day of competition, when they will take on world leaders China and Germany.
Daley’s diving partner is in confident mood. “Tom and I have been working hard and barring injury, we will definitely be ready when it comes to the Olympics,” Waterfield told www.insidethegames.biz.
“A medal is definitely realistic for us because we have consistently been performing well against the best guys out there. A gold medal would be brilliant and it would not only be a major boost for the two of us, but also for the sport in general,” he added.
“It would help build on what we have done in the lead up to the Olympics.”
Britain’s divers have already qualified four Olympic positions for the 2012 Games and this month they will be looking to seal places in London for the women’s 10m platform (one place), the men’s 3m springboard (one) and the women’s 3m springboard (two).
Olympian Stacie Powell and Monique Gladding will be competing for the quota place in the women’s 10m platform and will need to gain a top 12 finish to gain Great Britain its Olympic spot.
Jack Laugher, who impressed to finish in the top eight at the 2011 World Championships in Shanghai, will compete alongside Chris Mears in the 3m springboard.
Daley’s Plymouth Diving team-mate Tonia Couch is included in the team, as is her former Plymouth colleague Sarah Barrow, who now represents City of Leeds.
