WHERE on earth is that national diving executive coming from? Tom Daley recently lost his dad, and is now, because of the person he is and the feeling of natural responsibility he has to his family, the bread-winner for his family. Why should he not make the best of his national standing?
A gymnast has already appeared on Strictly Come Dancing and clearly made money, so why not Tom?
A sportsman's popularity/standing does not equate to earnings, unless he/she can cash in on media attention. Good on you Tom. If the medals come as well, so be it, but make sure you and your family are secure first!
We are not all born with silver spoons in our mouths; some of us have to graft for what others have given to them. Even Tom's academic prowess is beyond reproach. What a man! His dad would be more than proud of him. I know I am, and many Plymothians, not to mention the rest of Britain.
