Torridge Bridge traffic problems set to continue
Road works on the A39 between the Heywood Road Roundabout, near Bideford and Torridge Bridge will continue for several more months as engineers carry out essential works.
A Devon County Council spokesperson said maintenance works were being carried out to replace the existing drainage and the carriageway surface before the onset of winter.
The spokesperson added the drainage works, which are the first phase of the project, would be 'completed as quickly as possible' with some works being undertaken over weekends.
The surfacing phase of the project will follow immediately on from the drainage works, but this will be carried out at night.

The lengthy delays have already angered some motorists. Twitter users complained of traffic problems on Friday night with one person saying there was a 'massive traffic jam' at 6.45pm and another adding that it took them 1 hour and ten minutes to travel four miles between Barnstaple and Bideford.
