Trainers needed to help teach children road safety
Primary school children are being taken out of the classroom and taken to the roadside to learn first-hand about road safety.
Cornwall Council's "Second Steps" training project takes place by the side of the road with specially-trained instructors to teach youngsters.

The children, aged between five and seven, learn three key skills – choosing safe places and routes to cross the road, crossing safely between parked cars and crossing safely at junctions.
This year, 17 schools across the county are taking part in the Cornwall Council child pedestrian training scheme.

Tracy Porter, road safety officer, said: "With the risk of a child pedestrian being involved in a collision increasing when they start school, it is extremely important that our children are armed with the information they need to cross the road safely."
The council's road safety unit is currently recruiting for trainers for schools in Camborne, Pool, Redruth, Penzance, Penryn, Falmouth and St Austell.
The hours are variable and take place in term-time during school hours – between 9.30am and 3.00pm – approximately three hours per day – on a Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. For more details go to www.cornwall.gov.uk
