This is the moment a twister formed in the skies off the coast.

The water spout formed over Brixham in South Devon - watched by crowds of onlookers.

Ali King, from Brixham, was among those who spotted the funnel as it hovered over the port, breaking away from dense clouds at about 7pm on Tuesday.

Pictures looking towards the twister were taken from Paignton.

The last time a water spout was spotted was ironically about the same spot in September 2008.

Ferry passengers and residents reported water being sucked up from the sea and into the air.
