UPDATE: Car leaves A379 near Exeter and hits tree, killing driver
A Devon man who died in hospital after the car he was driving veered off the road and crashed has been named by police.
The man has this afternoon been formally identified as David Michael Howard Hill, aged 64 years of Harbertonford, near Totnes.

At about 6:10pm yesterday a silver Mercedes travelling towards Kennford left the A379 carriageway at Peamore, collided with a tree in the grassed central reservation and ended up on its side.
An off-duty Exeter detective who was travelling behind the vehicle stopped at the scene and administered first aid on Mr Hill, who was the only person in the car.

She was assisted by a member of the public and the first officer on the scene before paramedics arrived.
Mr Hill was taken to Royal Devon and Exeter Hospital where he later died.
The road was closed for six hours while police investigations were carried out.
Officers from Exeter Serious Collisions Investigation Unit have launched an investigation into the collision and are appealing for witnesses to contact them.
