UPDATE: Police interview teenager who 'ate bus seat'

A passenger who allegedly caused £200 damage to a seat on the number 12 bus — by chewing it - has been spoken to by police.

Police investigating an offence of criminal damage to a bus seat in Paignton on May 25 say they have interviewed an 18-year-old man in connection with the incident.

Police issued this photograph and appealed for anybody who recognises him to contact them.

Last week PC Gary Blee, of Torbay police, said: “The male offender was on a number 12 bus in Paignton and has chewed the seat he was sitting on, causing around £200 of damage.”

A police spokesperson said: "A file will be submitted in due course and a decision will then be made as to the next course of action."

The incident happened on Friday, May 25.

A Stagecoach spokesman said: “It is obviously not a big incident in terms of the amount of damage... but it is odd. “We are cooperating with the police and helping with their inquiries.”
