TINSIDE Lido became a venue for a salty extravaganza of community films, swimming, snorkelling, marine artwork and marine life raps.

Bright sunshine covered the event at the outdoor pool which was watched by crowds of keen onlookers.

During the summer, community designed flags have been flying over Tinside and the beach rangers have been encouraging local people to snorkel, rockpool, create artworks and clean beaches across the city.

Organised by the Blue Sound Project, the event took place at the start of the Marine City Festival which is taking throughout the city for nine days.

Over the last two-and-a-half years the project has involved more than 5,000 local people in exploring the underwater world working to conserve the special marine environment of the Plymouth Sound and Estuaries European Marine Site.

Residents have greater opportunities to experience the local marine environment through the project.

It has received money from Natural England as part of its £28.75million Access to Nature programme, funded through the Big Lottery Fund's Changing Spaces programme.
