University of Exeter invests in disease research
THE University of Exeter is investing £230 million into research focused on disease prevention and treatment.
It is using 'systems biology', an approach which borrows techniques from mathematics and physics to ascertain why diseases occur.

Investment has been channelled into the University's scientific sectors and joint funding by the University and Defence Science & Technology Laboratory has been approved for five PHDs, investigating disease prevention and treatment.
Research will include new techniques for diagnosing bacterial infections. One of the students will look into enhancing anti-biotic treatments in order to treat potentially fatal diseases.
