VIDEO: Excellence Awards recognise achievements of businesses
A BAY building firm and a stalwart of the tourism industry were among the big winners at the Herald Express South Devon Excellence Awards.
The ceremony at the Riviera International Conference Centre on Friday, February 10, recognised the achievements of companies and entrepreneurs from across the area.
The best business of the year went to Inter-line Building Supplies in Paignton and a surprise lifetime achievement award was presented to RICC managing director Barry Cole for his outstanding work over many years.
Herald Express editor Jim Parker said: "Just looking around the room you can see that there is a resilience, a desire and passion to battle through, grow and succeed.
"Its marvellous to see so many diverse and successful companies in the room and tonight's awards are to celebrate their excellence. A big thanks to all our sponsors without whom this event would not be possible."
Headline sponsor was Torbay Development Agency.
Michelle Pugh, sales director of the Herald Express, said: " Now in its fifth year, the business awards has progressed a long way, and we intend to continue to develop on this success for future years. Many thanks to all involved and lets plan for more excellence in 2013."
Mayor Gordon Oliver, who was at the awards, said: "It's a spectacular event to highlight the upcoming and existing talented businesses in Torbay and South Devon."
