Two paintings worth an estimated £1,000 each have been stolen from a house in South Devon.

Detectives have appealed to art dealers for information in the hope of tracing the pair of sepia landscapes, which were stolen during a burglary in Newton Ferrers.

The house, which was unoccupied, was raided by thieves some time between December 20 and 22.

In addition to the pictures, two ornate silver-plated gravy jugs were stolen. Anyone with any information is asked to contact Crimestoppers on 0800 555 1111.
