A Devon food business will find out later this month if it has won a national business award – just weeks after scooping a regional prize.

The Avonwick-based vegetable delivery business the Nearly Naked Veg Company will find out on March 30 if it has won the enterprise of the year category at the Countryside Alliance awards.

Founder Ben Brunning, 28, picked up the South West title last month and will travel to the House of Lords for the national awards ceremony.

The business, which grows much of its own crops on land near Newton Ferrers, Loddiswell and South Brent, was launched two years ago and delivers 180 boxes a week homes in the South Hams, Newton Abbot and parts of Cornwall. Its wholesale arm also supplies pubs, restaurants and hotels in the region.

Mr Brunning said: "It's been an exciting few months with weekly deliveries increasing steadily, the wholesale part of the business doing as well and we've launched several exciting new initiatives too. Fingers crossed we will do well at the final at the end of the month."
