Vickery wins the Chairman's Cup
SHAUN Vickery posted a six-under nett 65 in breezy conditions to win the Chairman's Cup at Tiverton on Saturday.
Vickery finished one ahead of club captain Colin Carey. Mike Hurley and Neil Megarry both had 67s, while Noel Thomas carded a 68 to come fifth.
It was the final men's medal of the season and concluded the race for the Blundell's Trophy. Jim Bray had a 74 on the day but had already posted scores of 71, 72 and 72 for a total of 215.
The Old Blundellian was victorious, as Chris Audin, who had two 72s to his name, wasn't able to put in another low round to overtake him. Kevin Harper also had two 72s, but didn't play on Saturday.

Sally Fetherston claimed the Cancer Relief Spoon after winning the ladies' August Stableford at Tiverton on Wednesday.
A fine finish helped Fetherston score 36 points and beat teenager Mollie Budden, Ivy Radford and Janet Simpson on a countback. The competition was reduced to 16 holes with the 10th and 11th closed due to drainage work.

Ian Wilson carded 39 points to win the veterans' August Stableford, beating Jim Walton on a countback.

WILL Blundell fired five birdies on his way to winning Hong's Challenge with a 39-point stableford score.
Blundell's score was matched by club captain Tom Evans, but he lost out on countback. Pete Jones headed a group of four players who scored 38 points.
The entry for the event was among the highest of the year.

Phil Reed won the latest midweek stableford event to keep alive his hopes of winning the season-long race for the John Emerton Cup.
Reed edged out Phil Moore and Ray Cavill on countback after all three tied on 18 points.

Phil Moore remains in with a chance of doing a singles and doubles double after reaching the semi-finals of the Summer Singles sponsored by PGA Pro Stuart Disney.
The 10-handicapper beat John Palmer to set up a semi-final meeting with Rod Hutchings. Moore is also in the semis of the Fourball Betterball event with partner Duncan Stamp. The other singles semi sees Malcolm Lyne face John Locke.

Syd Guscott won the Seniors August Medal with a nett three under par 69. Guscott finished two shots ahead of Mike Smith and Ken Sykes. who both returned scores of 71.

Maurice Gwynne cruised to victory in the Seniors' August Stableford with an excellent 42 points.
Ken Sykes took second place as he pipped Jim Butt on countback.

In the Crediton seniors Captain's Cup Graham Hampson fired a superb 43 points to beat John Hooper and John Corbett by two shots in Divison Two.
In Division One, John Wigginton scored 40 points to win, in front of Phil Ollis and Keith Napper.
Devon Greenslade retained his juniors Club Championship title after a play-off with Luke Ebdon. Both shot a gross 75, while Ebdon had the consolation of winning the handicap event with net 65.

Wednesday's pro stableford, four shots ahead of Colin Grey and Andrew Skinner. Norma Barry shot the best score of the ladies medal to win Bronze Two, ahead of Di Parsons and Lyn Parry.
Angela Battershall returned to winning ways in the Silver Division, ahead of Stephanie Moffat. Bronze One saw ladies' captain Joyce Gilg come out on top, beating Betty Willey on countback.
Tim De'Ath emerged as overall winner of the president's prize with an impressive 44 points. De'Ath beat a handful of players by just one shot with junior Sam Gallagher taking the men's prize in Division One.
Division Two saw two more scores of 43 as Mark Chambers just pipped Matt Scott-Tucker on countback, while greenkeeper Gerald Abdoll took Division Three with 40 points. The seniors' prize was won by Bryan Broxton with another 43, while a countback was needed to separate the top two ladies as well — with Jo Coe edging out Fran Shrubsole.
The best score of the day was recorded by youngster Josh Hill, who fired an incredible 54.
