Vinyl and rock trivia are music to Dan's ears
A NEW independent music shop has opened in Crediton following its Internet success.
The Record & CD Shop, based in the Creedy Centre off High Street, welcomed customers for the first time on Monday, September 16.
Dan Ford, 31, decided to open the shop after the boom of his online business which sells a variety of musical memorabilia on both Amazon and eBay.
He said: "I started selling CDs and records and things on the Internet in 2004 and it just snowballed. I had also started running out of space as I have a really big collection and I keep buying in new products.

"We're stocking about 30,000 items – from vinyl records, CDS, DVDs and music memorabilia – and we're sending those worldwide, including places as far as New Zealand."
Not only does the shop stock standard CDs and records, they also have interesting collectable items.
"The weirdest things I have in the shop at the moment are some Beatles dart boards. It's things like that which I didn't expect to be selling when I started this and it's probably one of those things that you wouldn't expect to see either. We sell posters and T-shirts too," he said.
He also offers the service of buying old records and other musical related items.
"If people just bring them into the store then I can have a look at them."
Dan claims one of the most valuable items he's ever sold was the first EP by Muse, which went for £300 online. He also stocks items as low as 90p, across all genres from the 1950s onwards.
Despite living in Exeter, Dan decided to bring his business to Crediton, where it's now the only shop of its kind in the town after The Record Shop on the high street closed in 2011.
He added: "It's a great location here in the Creedy Centre. The shop needed to be wide enough for us to fit in the stands and although this is slightly too small we have the option of knocking through to the units either side if needs be. Also, Crediton is really handy for me to get to and from where I live in Exeter."
Dan also runs a mobile coffee business with his partner which they take to festivals.
Before that he was a catering manager, a sandwich shop owner and he also ran a pub.
Dan added: "Music has always been my passion and it's great to do something that you love for a living.
We still do the coffee business at the weekend but at the moment my partner is pregnant and we're expecting our first child in January,"
