MORE than 1,000 people visited a vintage vehicle show at the old airfield near Winkleigh.

People were able to travel to Winkleigh Cider Factory on a 1929 Charabanc open topped bus as part of the day's activities.

There were also lorries, fire engines, cars, tractors and motorcycles on display.

The event, held on Sunday October 7, was organised by Dan Shears who runs the West of England Transport Collection.

Dan, 37, from Bideford said: "It was a good day, everyone seemed to enjoy themselves. The open topped bus which came from Kent was popular. Lots of people got to experience being a passenger on a classic bus.

"Loads of families with children came. When people left they told me they had a good day out."

Dan's father, Colin Shears,79, retired last year having organised the exhibition for the past 40 years. Dan, who has taken over coordinating the show, said he will continue to keep this annual event running.
