Visitors win last open event by two shots
VISITORS Lis Collier from Elfordleigh and Amanda Burchell from Bigbury teamed up to great effect to win Churston ladies' final open event of the year – a four ball better ball – by two clear shots.
Indeed, only two home club members made the leaderboard, runner up Kate Field who was partnered by Sheila Johncy from Windsor Great Park, Kate also winning the longest drive prize on the 18th, and Jane Easterbrook who came fourth.

VISITORS: Churston ladies captain, Lesley Breyley left, with winners Lis Collier and Amanda Burchell, right
The weather was kind to the field, but as the scores indicated, the combination of punishing rough for those who did stray off the straight and narrow and a three quarters of handicap allowance, ensured that even with a better ball format, it was not easy to come in with a high score. The other winner was Stover's Jackie Carr whose drive on the difficult par 3 17th was nearest the pin.
