A COMMUNITY group is looking for volunteers to drive its new minibus.

Saltash Gateway Community Interest Company plans to use the 16-seater 'Saltash Hopper' to carry the elderly, the disabled, the young, the vulnerable and people who do not have access to bus services.

The bus can also carry up to six wheelchairs.

The minibus was acquired from Cornwall Council late last year and has been rebranded.

The money for the project has come from Saltash developer tariffs and Cornwall Council. The project was also one of the winners of the NatWest Community Force Competition.

Volunteers must be over 21 years of age and hold a full clean driving license including categories D1 & D1E.

Volunteers over 70 years not holding these should contact the project leader Colin Brown through Volunteer Cornwall.

All applicants will be CRB checked and required to undertake a minibus driver awareness scheme and safeguarding training, at no cost to the applicant.
