Waxwings cause a flutter when they arrive in a North Devon garden
Three distinctive birds got twitchers all of a flutter when they arrived from Scandinavia.
The trio of waxwings stopped off for a feast of berries in Colin Greenslade's garden in Orchard Road, Wrafton, North Devon, much to his delight.
The crested birds are winter visitors to the UK and are usually seen on the east coast, from Scotland to East Anglia.
Mr Greenslade, 73, said: "My neighbour knocked on my door and said you have three waxwings in your front hedge. I was so stunned by these birds. They never come to this side of the country."

Word soon spread among local bird-watchers who, within hours, descended on Mr Greenslade's property to catch a glimpse of the unusual visitors.
Mr Greenslade was also able to capture a stunning image of one plucking a berry from his Cotoneaster shrub.
