Weather warnings issued for Devon for next three days

Devon could be battered by more wind and rain over the next three days, according to weather warnings put in place by the Met Office.

An amber-graded weather warning has been put in place from 10am until midnight on Saturday, with a down-graded yellow-graded weather warning in place for the Sunday and Monday.

Further persistent rain will spread across the the region on Saturday, turning heavy at times, especially later.

On Sunday persistent rain will continue north turning heavy in places but clearing quite quickly from southern parts.

A spokesperson for the Met Office said: "Given existing levels of saturation, the public should be prepared for localised flooding."

"An area of low pressure and associated frontal system are expected to bring periods of heavy rain and showers to parts of the South West.

"It seems likely that around 15-25mm of rain will fall quite widely with some locations possibly having an excess of 50mm."

Environment Agency flood warnings remain on of Devon's rivers, including the Clyst (Upper, Middle), Lowman, Torridge (Lower), Culm (Lower, Upper), Dart, Teign (Lower).

Postponement of Christmas Lights Switch on

The Christmas lights switch on in Brixham has today been cancelled due to the forecast 60mph SE wind.

The fireworks and switch on will now be held on Sunday November 25 from 4pm.

The Christmas market will carry on unaffected by the weather and will run from 10am to 4pm in the Scala Hall.

Dozens of flooding incidents have been reported to the fire service in the last 24 hours, from 6am on Thursday to today some their incidents included:

6.35am, Vehicle removed from water at Steps Bridge, Dunsford, Exeter.

9.30am, Flooding at Burton Row, Brent Knoll, Highbridge

9.44am, Flooding off the main A361 between East Lyng and Stoke St Gregory.

10.30am, Woman and dog rescued from bridge at Creech St Michael, Taunton.

2.30pm, High volume pump deployed to remove floodwater at Gdynia Way, Plymouth.

4pm, Man rescued from down embankment at Lady Street, Dulverton.

5:02pm, Person rescued from car in floodwater in Forder Valley Road, Crownhill, Plymouth.

5.44pm, Elderly woman helped back to home at Altona Park, Taunton.

5.58pm, Assisted with flooding at Thurlow Road, Upton, Torquay.

5.56pm Assisted with flooding at Sawyers Hill, West Buckland, Wellington.

6.19pm, Rescue from water at Rockwell Green, Wellington.

6.29pm, Made electrics safe due to flooding at Valley Road, Merafield, Plympton.

10.04pm, Assist with flooding at Labourham Bends, Cheddar.

8.07pm, Collapsed wall at Hele Road, St Davids, Exeter.

8.37pm Rescue from water prior to our arrival at Yarcombe, Honiton.
