Weir siblings secure another county double
THERE was another family double for David and Victoria Weir at the Devon Schools' Cross Country Championships, which this year were held at Central Park in Plymouth.
In December the pair had both triumphed at the Devon AA Championships at Exeter and they matched that achievement at the weekend in their own city.
Victoria, running for Plymstock School, won the intermediate girls' race by 17 seconds.
She triumphed over the muddy course in a time of 16.08 with her Plymouth Athletics Club team-mate Emily Ackford (Plymouth College) finishing second in 16.25.

David claimed victory in the senior boys' race, finishing eight seconds ahead of Ivybridge Community College's Luke Honey, who is his club team-mate.
Devonport High School's James Best finished fourth in that race
There was a victory for Devonport High School for Girls' Emily Alfield in the junior event.
She finished four seconds in front of Kelly College's Sian Temple, with Plymouth College's Karenze Bryson fourth.
Kelly College, Plymouth College and Ivybridge Community College did all claim one win each as Plymouth & West Devon dominated the boys' races.
Lachlan Fulton of Kelly was a clear winner in the minor boys' race. He came home in a time of 11.13, which was 25 seconds in front of the second-placed runner, which was Ilfracombe's Miles Rees.
Frankie Alred triumphed in the junior boys' event. He was 14 seconds in front of Kings School's Matt Simpson.
And Plymouth & West Devon boys continued their good form in the intermediate event with Ivybridge Community College's Will Battershall producing a truly dominant run to win by more than half-a-minute.
The leading athletes will now all turn their attentions to the South West Schools' Championships on February 2 in Avon and the English Schools' Championships in Derbyshire on March 16.
