Wheatley wins county award
THE inaugural annual county tennis awards were presented at the Devon Lawn Tennis Association's annual meeting in Exeter.
The awards have been set up to honour those who have helped Devon tennis behind the scenes and on court.
University of Exeter's Bruce Wheatley was named adult player of the year for his service to the county men's team and Jack Findel-Hawkins, from Exeter Tennis Centre, was the junior player of the year after winning two national doubles finals at under-16 and under-18 levels.
The club-of-the-year award went to Sidmouth for their hard work increasing the number of children playing.
Coach of the year went to Steve Ashton for starting from scratch and getting a top-rate children's programme going in Exeter very quickly.
