Patrick Monahan

George Hotel, South Molton

Friday, February 3, 8.30pm

PATRICK Monahan will still make an appearance in South Molton this February, despite winning ITV's Show Me The Funny. After his massive TV win last August, Patrick's agent wanted him to set out on a whirlwind national tour that didn't include a small market town in North Devon.

However, Monahan who has visited the venue on two previous occasions will be keeping his commitment.

"Patrick is at his very best working a small venue like this as it really emphasises his genuine charm, likeability and the rapport he builds so effortlessly with an audience," said The George's owner Cathy Doel. "His brand of humour is perhaps contrary to many popular comedians, in that it is charming and gentle, rather than abrasive and challenging. Perhaps this is what led Time Out to describe him as, 'simply the nicest person ever born'.

"And at least one of our regular comedy aficionados admitted to re-organising their holiday commitments so as not to miss his next appearance."

It's doubtful that anyone in the audience will be short-changed with his show, as his notoriety for over-running produced almost two hours of entertainment on his last visit. He just can't tear himself away from his audience if they're up for another funny story.

Tickets: £12 (book three, get one free) on www.wegottick ets.com/event/134523 or phone 01769 572514.
