Woman, 39, pleads guilty to Exeter canon attack
A woman has pleaded guilty to punching a canon at Exeter Cathedral.
Sharon Tracey Thornton, 39, has been remanded in custody after admitting three offences during the incident on August 11 this year.

She was charged with assaulting Canon Carl Turner by beating him on the Cathedral Green, another charge of damaging a pair of spectacles and a screen of an Apple iPhone belonging to the Reverend, and a section five public order offence.
Reverend Canon had tried to film footage of the attack on his phone, which was also caught on CCTV.

Thornton, who is listed as living in Exeter but of no fixed abode, appeared via video link at Exeter Magistrates' Court yesterday morning to make her plea. A hearing for her to be sentenced was set for January 24.
