A WOMAN has appeared in court charged with administering poison to her husband.

Linda Lees, 45, faces three counts of slipping drugs into husband Paul Lees' food and drink.

Mr Lees works for the Royal Navy, the court heard.

She stood in the secure dock at Truro Magistrates' Court yesterday flanked by two security guards.

Wearing a lilac-coloured fleece and trousers, Mrs Lees, of Bosnoweth, Helston, West Cornwall, spoke only once during the half-hour hearing to confirm her name, age and address.

The first charge alleges that between July 18 and 20 this year at Helston Mrs Lees administered to Paul Lees a poisonous and noxious unknown substance with intent to injure or aggrieve.

The second similar count relates to between April 1- 1 July this year at Exeter and the third similar charge to between March 21 and 25 this year at Helston.

An application for bail was made and refused.

Mrs Lees, a mother-of- one, was remanded in custody.

The case was referred up to Truro Crown Court where the defendant is due to appear on Tuesday next week.
