Young farmer takes top shearing title
WOOLSERY young farmer Nick Harding beat some of the best shearers in the country when he won the Devon County Show's open senior lamb shearing competition held earlier this month at Sidbury.
Two other Devon shearers reached the top five places in the overall open section, Ross Crang of Combe Martin and Sam Bullingham from Okehampton.
In the Under 21 competition Matt Baker from Hatherleigh took first place.
Matt Smith from New Zealand won the The Animax Ltd Open Championship, shearing 20 sheep in 16.40 minutes.

Seven hundred and seventy lambs and ewes were shorn at the event held at Home Farm, Sidbury.
Show secretary Ollie Allen, said: "We had a great representation of Devon shearers.
"This year we introduced a woolhandling class with the entrants competing at the same time as the shearing, which was a great way of showing how the shearers and the wool handlers work together as a team at shearing time."
