A SMALL zoo has welcomed a new arrival.

Shaldon Wildlife Trust is celebrating the arrival of a baby red titi monkey, a South American primate living right here in South Devon.

The little one was born to parents Joey and Cupreus.

Trust education officer Julie Matthews said: "Red titi monkey babies have a very strong bond with their fathers and Joey is doing a great job of helping to raise the youngster with mum Cupreus."

Titi monkey pairs mate for life and spend much of their time either huddled together, grooming each other, or with their tails intertwined.

They are an arboreal species that live in the lower canopy of the rainforest and rarely come to ground.

They have an elaborate system of communication that includes vocal, visual, smelling and tactile gestures.

Visitors can see the baby every day from 10am.
