Should we ban football?
JOHN Twyford Charity right to chase huntsmen all way to court, December 31 tells us that "supporters [of hunting] ... are very much in the minority, even in the countryside".
This may be true, but is this an adequate reason for banning it? Football is a popular pastime (much more popular as a lucrative business venture and substitute religion than as a game which people actually play, more's the pity), but the total number of those who support it is probably a minority of this country's population, even if a substantial one.
Would Mr Twyford have us ban football?

“Football, by and large, does not predicate itself as a sport on animal cruelty. Hunting, on the other hand, does.”
