Bus services in Devon could be disrupted after hundreds of bus workers in Devon and Cornwall voted to go on strike in a dispute over pay.

Members of the Rail Maritime and Transport union at the First group backed walkouts by more than 8-1 after rejecting a pay offer the union said was self-funding.

RMT general secretary Bob Crow said: “The massive mandate for action by RMT members on First Devon and Cornwall buses reflects their anger at the failure to come up with a serious pay offer and the attempt to bind up what is on the table with a whole load of strings to make it self-financing at the expense of the workforce.”
