Other clubs and associations at the event on Sunday, April 28, from 1pm to 4pm will be offering free sign-up tasters in everything from sailing to archery, rifle shooting to skiing.

Catherine Williams, Torbay Council's community and sports officer, said: "It's looking really exciting. We've got 30 clubs and agencies coming along and more are still signing up."

MEANWHILE supporters of voluntary groups who make a difference in Torbay could win up to £1,000 financial support.

Sanctuary Housing, one of the loveLIFE main partners along with Torbay Care Trust and Europlas, has announced a Grand Ideas Fund offering financial support to community groups.

In keeping with loveLIFE, the fund can be used to cover health and fitness initiatives in the community.

Totalling £60,000 across England, the fund is now open for applications.

Peter Hoarle, of Sanctuary, said: "Relatively small amounts of funding can make a real difference to people's lives.

"The £1,000 could go towards anything — from a healthy eating project, to exercise classes, or materials for a fun day event."

Applications to the Grand Ideas Fund should be submitted to the Sanctuary Housing Community Investment team on 01905 334271 or peter.hoarle@sanctuary-housing.co.uk.
