Out-of-control Staffie bit and seriously injured a policewoman
A WHITLEIGH woman has admitted that she was not in control of her Staffordshire bull terrier when he bit and seriously injured a policewoman.
Paula Libbey, aged 34, and of Newcastle Gardens, pleaded guilty yesterday at Plymouth Crown Court to being the owner of a dog causing injury while dangerously out of control.
-

The dog, 'Dre', bit policewoman Alison Campbell in Newcastle Gardens on August 16, 2010, and has been the subject of an ongoing court case ever since.
Libbey's barrister, Ali Rafati, told Judge Francis Gilbert QC that since the last hearing, money had been raised to send Dre, who is being held near Bristol, to an animal charity in either Colchester or Nottingham.
There he will be trained before being re-homed - but not with Libbey.
Mr Rafati said police had agreed to transport the dog, but that this would be cheaper for them than continuing to pay for him to be held in secure accommodation.
Judge Gilbert granted Libbey bail until she is sentenced next month following a Probation Service report.

“you people thats commenting on this post make me sick by judging and not knowing the truth this dog was a family dog had for 8 years if somebody came into your family home what would you do... let them in? I think not!the police where told to wait for dog unit before entering but no wanna be hero and this is what happened its ok for people to judge on this post but half of it isnt true so get the facts true first before judging!!! this dog was a family dog living in a house with 5 children not an attack dog like made out to be or devil dog and as for saying its the owners yeah on some ocassions it is but not on this occasion. my heart is with you dre all the time we are thinking about you deeply sorry for what happened nobody knows what the police did to this dog they made him attack them not the owners so in future listen to the truth instead of a pack of lies those people write!!! and as for the new dog of the house rocko this dog was a big softie they're making out that it was a bigger deal then it was they made out the dog attacked a dog there would be no dog left but as for biting a child thats a load of lies! the police entered the property through a bathroom window the dog had let them in wagging his tail and rolled over so this a dangerous dog dont think so!!”

“I had the pleasure of owning a s***** for 14 years.she was well socialised, loved all kids and people was great with other dogs and cats.If anyone had broken into our house I know she would've been thrilled to see them! The chavs and ne'er do wells of this world have absolutely destroyed this breeds reputation and I doubt it will recover.stories like this just add to an all too depressing outlook for this breed.my sympathies are with the policewoman who got bitten.”

“I am so glad the dog will be trained and rehomed - this is not his fault.
It seems that this is the second dog of Paula Libbey's to be seized. There are no bad dogs only bad owners.
Perhaps it is Paula Libbey who needs to be sent away for the real training.”

“@ ajws70
Who gives you the right to say that anyone has to be put to sleep-you should be fighting the 'EUTHANASIA cause' for humans that requests it.
My S*****xLAB is an aid for the DISABLED-but she still protects me and my family indoors and out.
She is MY COMPANION nobody else's-and my protector whilst on my own.
YES sometimes i wish i could be put to sleep-but that is my choice NOT YOURS-have my life and my dog for a week you might change your mind on s*****'s and 'putting to sleep'.
Think before being Disrespectful!!!!!”
