A diamond moment for Brixham duo
"SHE did it her way" is the secret behind a Torbay couple's 60 year marriage, according to husband Richard Purchase. "And I didn't really get a say in it," he joked
The couple, originally from Richmond, Surrey, moved to Torbay just weeks before their golden wedding anniversary 10 years ago and have celebrated 60 years of marriage this week.

Richard, 86, and Terry Purchase, 78, who married in Richmond on September 27 1952, moved down to Torbay to be closer to their son who had moved to the area 10 years before. They now live in Brixham.
"Just after we moved down we had a huge party at the Livermead House Hotel with over 100 family members and friends who came to celebrate with us," recalls Terry, a former accountant.

"My husband had had a stroke, and we didn't know how he was going to progress so we decided to move down here to be closer to our son. And we haven't looked back.
"It was hard at first trying to decide whether to make the move down here, but when we got here we loved it immediately. The people here are so lovely and so helpful."
The couple first met at the Station Hotel in Richmond and were married two years later. They have two children, and three grandchildren.
The couple will mark the anniversary with a family meal at Churston Court.
"I have warned my son, on strict terms, that there is to be no big surprise party this time around," laughed Terry.
