Why did biker get a bus lane ticket?
MY PARTNER who drives a motorcycle and who has always been told that using bus lanes is okay has just received a fine for using a bus lane.
The Plymouth City Council website states: 'Following the completion of an 18 month trial in 2007/8, motorcycles have been given permanent access to bus lanes on the majority of the city's roads'.
There is no information on which roads that does not include, except to say 'If you don't see the motorbike on the bus lane sign motorbikes are not allowed in the bus lane due to environmental or safety factors'. Penrose Road does not even have a proper sign and there is no 'environmental or safety' factor which would prevent this road being used by motorcycles – except to make money off road users.
I am utterly appalled by Plymouth City Council and their pathetic attempts to cash in on law abiding citizens – especially when the council has been shown to spend £4.5 million on temporary workers in just six months.

“if you ride a m/cycle you should know that Penros road is the only one we bikers canot use .
but i have seen bikers use it but most get off there bikes and walk them thro that bit from the Tamar bridge to Penros road .
i can see why as this would be a very big rat run , so sorry but thats the way it is ,”

“I know of a bus lane that doesn't have a mortorcycle or TAXI sign, but that doesn't stop taxi drivers using it.”
