“It used to be the world ended at Bristol, now it is the world ends at Exeter. I cannot for the life of me understand why government after government has pushed everything at Exeter. The population is not there it is in Plymouth. They all but close out most of the Navy civilian jobs from Plymouth causing mass unemployment and push for all of the new industry and jobs to go to Exeter, close Plymouth airport and have the audacity to rename the A38 the Plymouth expressway and send a government minister down on a jolly to cut the ribbon, as if they are giving us something new. Plymouth heavily subsidised Exeter until they revamped most of what they wanted to upgrade the city and then promptly re shuffuled the financial boundaries back, so i would be surprised if the habits of a lifetime may change now.”
