By-election result a worry for Tories
WELL done to UKIP for the superb result at the Eastleigh by election.
Richard Simpson, (Your Say February 23) considered that Euro sceptics and UKIP supporters renounce all EU regulations (not true) and that the EU checks on the horse meat situation was their invention – how come it came about in the first place!
The UK was capable of doing these checks themselves, it was only the poor control of the new EU applicants who were at fault.
He also stated that letters sent to 'Your say' by Euro sceptics, should be taken with a pinch of salt and rarely told the real story of what is happening in the EU!

He already admits that too little information is provided by the government, press, BBC etc about the pros and cons of the EU. The Euro sceptics do try to find out some of this information, as and when they can, and hence try to get it published in the press.
The Herald in the past tended to veto many of those letters, but now they can see or listen to the feelings of many readers and take a more democratic stance (D Salmon Your Say March 4).
Before the next government offer a pure honest Yes/No vote on the UK's position in the EU, the public need to be shown what we can gain or lose by remaining a member.
Contrary to what Mr Cameron states, the Conservatives are truly worried about the result of Eastleigh and other marginal seats.
Already they are looking at the European court of Human Rights, immigration rules, foreign benefits, but this needs to be done as soon as possible, not wait until after the next election when God help us if there is a Labour/Lib coalition! Goodbye 'Britannia'.
