ABOUT 200 dogs in Mid Devon have been micro-chipped in just over six months since the launch of a free council-backed scheme.

While it is still a legal requirement to have a collar and identification tag on a dog, Mid Devon District Council is promoting responsible ownership by offering residents a chance to get pets micro-chipped free.

Working in conjunction with the Dogs Trust, the scheme was launched last June.

The council is holding another micro-chipping event at Groomed to Pawfection at the Creedy Centre, High Street, Crediton, on February 16, between 10am and noon. No appointment is necessary.
