All hands on deck for town Monopoly board
DOZENS of artistic shoppers flocked to Ilfracombe's indoor market last weekend to help create the town's very own Monopoly board.
More than 50 local businesses paid £10 each to be included on the giant board, which was made by visitors to the event on Saturday.
The Monopoly board – titled Ilfracomopoly – will be printed onto 10 weatherproof boards and erected at various locations around the town.
The day-long art initiative, part of the national Big Draw campaign, was organised by Ilfracombe Arts College and saw visitors of all ages painting with toy cars, illustrating Post-It notes and drawing well-known local buildings.

Karen Wicks, head of art at the college, said the event was designed to engage with the community and get people drawing.
She said: "The Monopoly board idea is inspired by the town's diverse mix of architecture.
"We want people to look up at the buildings and realise what a beautiful place they live in.
"The activities have gone down really well and it's shown people that you don't have to draw well to enjoy it.
"We wanted people to go away messy and having had a great time – I think we've succeeded on both fronts."
