PLYMOUTH Albion may be fighting relegation and in the middle of a financial crisis, but Addision Lockley is enjoying every minute of his spell at Brickfields.

The 20-year-old former Ivybridge Community College pupil joined his hometown club this season on a dual registration agreement from Exeter Chiefs.

"I'm really happy and really enjoying my rugby here," said Lockley.

"It is really enjoyable to come down here."

Lockley has made 10 starts in the Championship.

He began four out of Albion's first five matches while Tyler Hotson was away at the World Cup.

But then Lockley suffered a head injury at Doncaster which ruled him out for a few weeks and allowed Hotson back in.

However, an injury to Dan Collier opened the door for him again in December and he has grabbed it with both hands.

He has started Albion's last four matches and will make it five in a row tomorrow at Bedford.

Lockley, who missed a large part of last season due to injury, believes he is benefiting from having a good run in the side.

"Last season I did not play many games, so this is really my first proper senior season and to be getting it at Championship level is really good," he said.

"This is a really tough league, especially for a forward."

Lockley admitted it did take him a while to adapt to the Championship.

"I think it did, definitely," said the former Ivybridge RFC junior.

"Just the physicality of the game is a step up from what I was playing.

"I played a few A League games last year, but this is a step up. It is a bit more physical in the Championship than it is in the A League."

Albion's place in the relegation play-offs was confirmed last weekend when they lost 9-3 at Moseley.

But Lockley has no doubts Plymouth will be playing in the Championship again next season.

"I think we definitely have the ability to get out of it," said the former England Under-20 international.

"I have not really got any worries about us as a team.

"We are stringing along some good performances.

"Last week was not the result we wanted but I think the performance was there.

"And we put in good performances against Doncaster and especially against Leeds at home and against London Scottish we played well in parts.

"So, like I said, I don't have any worries about the play-offs because I definitely think we have the ability to get out of it."

Lockley and his Albion team-mates would love to go into the play-offs with some more wins to their name from their final three league matches.

"It is all about the wins," said Lockley.

"Hopefully, we can pick up a couple more before the end of the season, which will put us in the best position in the play-offs."

The first of those three remaining league games is against Bedford at Goldington Road tomorrow.

Lockley has yet to experience Bedford's famous sloping pitch.

Lockley said: "I have not played at Bedford before.

"This is my first time up there, but this season is my first time anywhere really.

"I have watched a couple of Bedford games on TV and there is definitely a slope, which hopefully we can use to our advantage."

He added: "They have got a couple of very good ball players. I know a couple of their players, so it will be interesting playing against them again after playing them down here."
