Your letters: EU nations are no friends of Britain
So Mr Richard thinks if we pull out of Europe Great Britain will become the stooge of the 52nd State of America rather than friends of our nearest neighbours (WMN Jan 27) by which I presume he means France and possibly Germany!
May I remind Mr Richard that the Germans have started two World Wars, during which we have gone to the aid of France on both occasions yet are still regarded with contempt and hatred by that ungrateful country and in case his history conveniently deserts him also remind him that it was the US that supplied this country with a vast amount of help both in men and materials without which the French and possibly ourselves might now be speaking German.
No, I don’t want our country to be a US 52nd state, neither do I want it to subjugated to a Europe controlled by the Germans and their poodles the French which both are trying to bring about in their own devious ways. I would also remind Mr Richards that the arch Europhile Nick Clegg said during an interview after the Cameron veto “It’s no secret that the French Government would not shed any tears if this country was marginalised”. With ‘friends’ and ‘neighbours’ like these, who needs enemies?
Paul Mercer, Peter Tavy.
