First look at new Morrisons superstore plan for Plympton
THIS is how a new Morrisons supermarket could look if permission is given for the chain to build it on the site of a retail park in Plympton.
The company wants to redevelop the Errill Retail Park, in Plymouth Road, and construct a large superstore creating 250 jobs.
It would mean knocking down the Buyology, Homemaker and Allied Carpets units to make way for a 57,737sqft supermarket, with a car park and filling station added too. The site is next door to, but does not include, the former Plympton Megabowl building.
Morrisons, which said the proposal would represent "a significant investment", has lodged a planning application with Plymouth City Council.
The company's design statement said: "A total of 250 full- and part-time employment opportunities will arise for the store's operation with a range of skill sets required from professional roles and managers to administrative staff, catering staff, retail staff, warehouse operatives, cleaners and maintenance staff and security personnel."
