Why I'm baffled
I READ nearly every day the debate about the city airport and the land that it now occupies.
What baffles me, and probably half the city, is the explanation behind the acquisition of this land in the first place. Could someone explain to us mere mortals how Sutton Harbour Holdings managed to get such a strong hold on what I would call a very lucrative piece of land. It seems to me to that none of our politicians want to upset Sutton Harbour.
In my opinion, our MPs are silent, our councillors are nowhere to be seen while council leader Tudor Evans seems to be putting so many obstacles in the way to make it impossible to even think of retaining the airport.
I think it should be explained to the people of this city how Sutton Harbour acquired the land; what were the restrictions, if any, to building on the land; were there time clauses; how much did Sutton Habour pay for the lease?
Could we have some answers please so we all can understand what has happened? My feelings are that Plymouth should have a airport
