Partridge and Heath hit back to help Park draw

A RUN of four wins in five holes saw Mike Partridge and Steve Heath come from behind to win their match as Padbrook halved their East Devon League clash with Honiton at Axe Cliff.

Partridge and Heath were two down at the turn, but won the next three holes and the short 14th to set up a 2&1 win.

Club captain Tom Evans and Rod Hutchings also pulled away in the second half of their round for a 4&3 victory.

With the overall match score at 2-2, Ray Cavill and Terry Martin fought back from one down after 14 holes to secure a half, which ensured honours were even overall.

Padbrook have one win and a draw in their four EDL matches so far.

Defending champions Ray Cavill and Martin Johns secured a semi-final place in the Summer Foursomes with victory over Phil Moore and Duncan Stamp.

The win extended the duo's impressive run in foursomes — they have won the last three summer and winter events.

In the final they will meet Cary Rawlings and Hamish Marshall, who came from behind to beat Mark Want and Mike Thomas by two holes.

Duncan Stamp kept alive his hopes of winning the season-long John Emerton Cup with victory in the latest Midweek Stableford.

His 20-point tally was one better than second-placed Terry Martin. Martin Cherry has an eight-point lead over Stamp in the overall standings with four events left.

A free coaching session for beginners held by PGA advanced professional Stuart Disney will take place on Saturday, August 7 (1pm-2pm).

THE seniors played the Don McRae Trophy on Monday and there was a clear winner as Robin Bailey cruised around in net 65 to win by three shots.

There were three 68s, all in Division Two, with Ken Legassick beating Jim Enright and Dave Morrish on countback.

Behind Bailey in Division One came Colin Parr, who came out on top in another countback over Roger Field, Brian Chivers and Jim Kenshole.

The ladies battled strong winds and rain in a stableford on Thursday. Sylvia Marklew cut her handicap with an excellent 37 points, finishing well clear of Sharon Leach and June Skuse in Bronze Division One.

Viv Bailey and Lyn Parry topped Bronze Two, while Sophie Button was victorious in Silver.

After the final rounds of the ladies' inter-club matches, Crediton's Sheelagh Creasy team has earned a place in the quarter-finals against Fingle Glen, to be held next month at the Warren.

The 21st Century Flag competition was played on Saturday and saw a runaway victory for Jeremy Harris in Division Three after he shot net 61.

In Division Two, it was Ben Rowe who emerged victorious. Martin Garnsey fired the lowest scratch score of the day to win Division One.

Sunday saw Crediton hold its Junior Open and there was plenty of home success. Junior Captain Ollie Greenslade won the 0-9 handicap division, while Luke Ebdon won the 10-17 group. Tom Trowbridge was third in his division.
