Approval for teen bus passes
Thursday, February 19, 2009, 10:00
The plan, the brainchild of South Hams District Councillor John Baverstock, was yesterday endorsed by the council's policy development group.
Under the proposals, being backed by the Western Morning News, millions of children and young people in full-time education would be able to travel free on the bus network when making local journeys.
Costs would be met out of Government funds, just as they are for the over-60s bus pass.
It will now go before the council's executive committee at the end of next month and, if ratified, become council policy.
