Former nurse is new chief operating officer for Plymouth Hospitals
A FORMER nurse has been appointed as the new Chief Operating Officer at Plymouth Hospitals NHS Trust.
Kevin Baber, who is currently Chief Executive of Peninsula Community Health (PCH), has been announced as the new Chief Operating Officer of the Trust that runs Derriford Hospital.
Originally qualifying as a nurse in 1986, Kevin has 29 years of healthcare experience and was previously Managing Director of Community Health Services for NHS Cornwall and Isles of Scilly.
Ann James, Chief Executive of Plymouth Hospitals, said: "I am really pleased that Kevin has accepted this role with us. He has a wealth of knowledge and experience gained from a variety of roles in the healthcare sector, which will be extremely beneficial to our Trust.
"As we seek to transform our services, working with other organisations in health and social care to take a more integrated approach for the benefit of patients, Kevin's experience will stand us in good stead to help shape real change."
Michael Williams, Chair of PCH, said: "We wish Kevin every happiness and success in his new role and look forward to working alongside him in his new role at Derriford to improve community services within North and East Cornwall."
Kevin will be handing over the reigns to a new Chief Executive some time this spring.
