“Yeah I agree. It would be nice to come on hear and see things like;
"I dont agree with these protests because....." "I think ....... would be a better idea"
But instead - all I see on here is degrading comments and petty name-calling. Not many people seem to have the capacity for adult debate or conversation. Just come on skim through the story and start 'throwing mud'. Its sad really!”
“@CornishPirate I have enjoyed my discussions with yourself as you obviously seem to be the voice of reason in support of the "Occupy Movement", may I add that my last comment was not directed at you in any way, but as a civilised member of society I am not here to throw mud or disregard others views, I just find it a little demeening to the actual cause when there are those who become angry and agitated at points raised purely because they do not fully agree. I am a well educated individual and I have worked hard all my life to ensure that my own childrens future is a better one, I have always instilled strong values within them and taught them that in life some will not always agree and thats healthy. But it is hard to discuss any forum when it is plainly obvious that a few wish to argue only if you are in full agreement. I don't have all the answers to the worlds problems (I wish I did), but I do have a strong view of my own and a healthy argument is always welcome....”
“@EyeOnPlymouth - Just to be clear my comment was directed at the people doing nothing but making presumptions, name calling and bickering about un-related matters.
I too fully support constructive and open debate. Which leads me to my next question.... Why do I bother posting on these boards??? ;)”
“So I go away for a few hours and my comments get slated because my opinion is not 100% in agreement, surely debate on this matter is the way forward as it will highlight not only the issues that the "Occupy Movement" wish to address, but also the interest and expression of the general public. There are some on here who seem to become very agitated at the slightest suggestion that someone else's view may differ. I would like to set the record straight once and for all - I do agree that change is needed in our society to allow for a fairer world, I am an avid supporter of change in Governmental Policy and Spending, but I think a few (and I do mean a few) seem to have lost the fact that "Occupy" is a movement seeking change for all and not something to help fuel their own agenda. There are many more of us out here who sympathise and would willingly show solidarity to this cause, but we do so from inside the corridors of corruption”
“You, the fine people of Plymouth, who are against the protests have so far come up with an long list of silly names and labels for these people; but as usual not a single good idea between you! Some of you are an embarrasment - your presumptiousness, your name-calling and your bickering about matters un-related (race/parents houses - who cares!!?) is ridiculous.
Maybe instead, you could put all your energy into suggesting a different strategy. Maybe we could use your opposing views for positive change? What would you suggest? If an worldwide occupation isn't right -What needs to happen?”
